Baby we were born to run! – with #hotpants

Have had some trouble getting onto wordpress for the last couple of days, has anyone else noticed this? Comes up with an error message of some kind. Not being much of a computer whiz, the only thin I was really able to do was hit the refresh button, and after that didn’t work gave it up as a hopeless situation.

I have been trying to improve my meringues throughout this past week. We had spare egg whites on Saturday night from Spaghetti Carbonara, so I whipped up some cocoa macaroons. I don’t think I baked them long enough though, I prefer harder meringues and these had a gooey inside.

Mmm, pretty much pure sugar!

Anyhow, I’ve managed to cover 11 miles since last Thursday, which has resulted in £11 for charity thanks to the Samsung Hope Relay. It’s kinda depressing that a half marathon is longer than that in one run, but I am getting there, slowly but surely! Covered 4 miles last Thursday, 3 on Saturday, a nice easy recovery run on Sunday and another 3 miles on Tuesday.

I’m finding my Viva hotpants to be incredibly effective, but I have been running slower when wearing them. My average mile time is down by around 20 seconds, but the HotPants provide extra resistance, which means that in those airy shorts that tennis players of old used to wear, my mile time would probably be faster.

What I’m exponentially more excited about is the 2 week challenge I’ve been attempting, which comes to it’s end on Friday! I don’t think I’ll quite manage to lose two jeans sizes, because it’s going to take me a while to get to a size 6, but I am hoping for several inches of size reduction. Let’s wait and see!

By the seaside… it’s still raining!

God bless the UK weather. It’s nothing if not predictable. Armed with raincoats and various umbrellas today (which we weren’t entirely sure were not broken) we hit the Southport Food Festival. Let it never be said that the weather dampens our spirits!

Beautiful, beautiful ribs…

Had a little self restraint, only bought about 4 chutneys, 3 Jams, 4 Pie and half a kilo of cashew nuts in various flavours. Not much at all!

Also got around to doing a trial run in my new Viva’s. Did a round of Jillian Micahels 30 Day Shred Level 3.  Jeez, can’t believe how hot I was afterwards, had to peel off the Viva’s! Ca’t wait to measure myself next Friday and see me progress. Only one more week to go!

Raindrops are falling on my head… continually.

Ran my furthest distance today. I was spurned on by this new app called the Samsung Hope Relay. For every mile I ran with my GPS phone, £1 was donated to charity. How lovely is that! You take a picture of your face and stick it on top of a little running cartoon. I was only going to aim for 3.5, but thought, ‘may as well get it up to £4’. Ended up getting lost because one of the paths led into a housing estate and had to ask for directions. Took off my HotPants at the end, soaked through. Awesome!

Would also like to thank those beautiful ladies at Zaggora, as my Viva’s have arrived! I came back in after my run to find they had arrived. So excited, planning on getting a good picture when the sun comes out. They’re very snug fitting, so I’m hoping for even more fat burn!

WOOOO!

Planning on  doing a Jillian Michaels DVD tomorrow, need to give these new HotPants their first run. So excited!

Also planning on hitting the Southport food festival tomorrow, can’t wait for that either; a chocolate festival, real ale festival and a bake off. I’ll certainly be gaining back those calories I burnt off!

In the summertime…

Had a nice relaxing 1.5 mile recovery jog today, I say recovery but I ended up running a 9:30 minute mile which is faster than any run I’ve done so far. Confused… didn’t break too much of a sweat, except my legs due to my Hotpants of course – toned legs here I come!

Spent the rest of the day so far doing some baking. Found a bag of mixed fruit in the cupboard as well as some oats and bread flour, so I mixed it with some baking powder and a couple of eggs and made some biscotti.

Needed to test it, make sure it tasted okay…

It didn’t rise that much, so the biscotti isn’t very wide because of the bread flour bit still taste pretty good. I’ll be sure to get some plain flour next time I’m out.
